However, there has recently been much scientific research that confirmed the benefits of acidity to skincare and as these became public knowledge, many skincare products have started promoting their acidity to consumers. What specific level of acidity, then, is beneficial for the skin? When something is acid, it usually has a pH level of 5 or 6. The normal pH level of the skin ranges from pH4.5-5.5. People with dermatitis have slightly higher acidity levels in their skin (close to pH6), which weakens the function of the skin barrier and reduces the skin’s ability to regenerate.
