[INGREDIENT DATA] NIACINAMAIDE

What is niacinamide?
Niacinamide is a water soluble vitamin (your body doesn’t store these) and is part of the vitamin B group, it’s also known as vitamin B3. It’s a good all-rounder and improves the health of your brain, heart and liver, as well as your skin. It can be found in salmon, tuna, chicken and milk products.

What are the skincare benefits?
Due to its inflammatory powers, niacinamide is great for those who suffer with acne and rosacea. There is also research to suggest that it helps boost your skin’s natural collagen production, which results in firmer, plumper skin. As Dr Bunting says, this ingredient also encourages the production of ceramides, which form a protective barrier and prevent water loss. “This also has the added bonus of increasing your tolerance to topical retinoids, so if you have dry or sensitive skin it might be worth using niacinamide beforehand,” says Dr Bunting.
